World FootballGolf Championships 2027

The World FootballGolf Association (WFGA) has announced that Cornwall FootballGolf Park in St Austell will host
the WFGA World Championship in 2027 on the 20th – 23rd May. The tournament is expected to bring 300
competitors from across the world to Cornwall to compete for the world championship title over the course of a four
day competition.

The tournament returns to the duchy for a second time after the success of the 2019 World Championship and the
2018 English Open. Up to 300 players are expected to spend a week in Cornwall giving themselves plenty of time to
practice the courses and explore the local area.

Manager Lauren Bennett said: “I’ve no doubt that we will put on an unforgettable weekend for the players that travel
from far and wide to join us in Cornwall. I think it’s great for the local area too, these players will all need somewhere
to stay, and I’m sure will be well up for soaking up some Cornish culture whilst they are here. The care and attention
that our grounds team put into the course is second to none, and we are very proud that our course gets the chance
to shine on the world stage once again.”

Course owner Angelee Robinson had this to say: “The 2019 World Championship was such a memorable weekend
for us, it really is a festival of sport and friendship. The opportunity to host this tournament again and do it bigger and
better than before is exciting for the whole team here. I’d urge anyone local that is debating whether to play to get
involved, we can promise you’ll have a blast and we would love to hear from any local businesses that would like to
get involved in this event too and help us show off the best parts of our local community.”

Stefan Taubenberger from Germany is a member of the WFGA board and is responsible for the development of
FootballGolf around the world. He said: “Since joining the WFGA it was one of my top priorities to bring a
tournament back to Cornwall for our great FootballGolf community. Personally I have never played there, but nearly
everybody who took part in the 2019 World Championship told me it was the best course they had ever played. So
to enable the next generation of FootballGolfers to share this experience is something I am looking forward to, and I
hope this tournament will be an ignition for FootballGolf as a booming sport in England.”

With competitors travelling from across the globe, the 2027 World Championship is set to be a fantastic showcase
for both FootballGolf and Cornwall, bringing together sport, competition and community for what promises to be a
memorable few days in St Austell.
